                N729 HONORS *^
Geometry is the study of the properties of points, lines and planes and the geometric figures they form. Emphasis is placed on
the study of geometry as a logical system based on deductive reasoning. The logical system is built on undefined terms,
definitions, postulates and theorems. Aspects of trigonometry, solid geometry, and coordinate geometry are also included.
                ESSENTIALS OF GEOMETRY

                E446 ^

Offered at Orange and El Modena High only
The Special Education English course covers the same standards as the general education English course and includes para
professional instructional support. The course is modified to meet the individual needs of students on an individualized
education plan. This course is the study of the properties of points, lines and planes and the geometric figures they form.
                ALGEBRA II

                N710 *^
                N719 HONORS *^

Algebra II reviews the solving of linear and quadratic equations and inequalities. It includes analytic geometry, logarithms,
exponents, complex numbers, probability, and trigonometry.
                ALGEBRA II WITH FINANCIAL APPLICATIONS

MATHEMATICS Offered at El Modena & Orange High only
                N711 *^

This is an algebra-based, applications-oriented, and technology-dependent course which addresses college preparatory
mathematics topics from Advanced Algebra, Statistics, Probability, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus under seven financial umbrellas:
Banking, Investing, Credit, Employment and Income Taxes, Automobile Ownership, Independent Living, and Retirement Planning
and Household Budgeting. The course allows students to experience the interrelatedness of mathematical topics, find patterns,
make conjectures, and extrapolate from known situations to unknown situations. The mathematics topics contained in this course
are introduced, developed, and applied in an as-needed format in the financial settings covered. Students are encouraged to
use a variety of problem-solving skills and strategies in real-world contexts, and to question outcomes using mathematical
analysis and data to support their findings. The course offers students multiple opportunities to use, construct, question, model,
and interpret financial situations through symbolic algebraic representations, graphical representations, geometric
                representations, and verbal representations.

                PRE-CALCULUS WITH TRIGONOMETRY

                N739 HONORS *^
Pre-Calculus with trigonometry is a year course combining the aspects of trigonometry, analytical geometry, and algebraic
techniques needed in preparation for the study of calculus. A graphing calculator is used extensively in concept development
as well as in assignments and tests.
                AP CALCULUS
                N986 AB *^
                N987 BC *^

Calculus BC is offered at Canyon, El Modena, & Villa Park only
AP Calculus is a year course equivalent to the first year of college calculus at most colleges and universities. Areas of study
include: functions, limits, continuity derivative, integral, and series. A graphing calculator is used extensively in the course and
on the AP examinations. Calculus AB and Calculus BC are primarily concerned with developing the students’ understanding of
the concepts of calculus and providing experience with its methods and applications. The courses emphasize a multi-
representational approach to calculus, with concepts, results, and problems being expressed graphically, numerically,
