ADVANCED BAND

Year course-grades 7 and 8 Prerequisites: Advanced skill in instrument/approval of director

Advanced skill in performing on musical instrument, including progressive facility in group performance is taught. Students develop an appreciation of music, knowledge of music literature, and of musical structures.

BEGINNING BAND INSTRUMENTS

Year course-grades 7 and 8

This course increases skills in performing on musical instrument, including progressive facility in group performance. Students develop an appreciation of music, knowledge of musical literature, and of musical structures.

BEGINNING STRINGS
(M 170)

Year course-grades 7 and 8

Students learn to play any string instrument, except the guitar, and to increase the skill on this musical instrument. Students develop an appreciation of music, knowledge of musical literature and of musical structures.

CONCERT CHOIR
(M 140)

Year course-grade 8 Prerequisites: Advanced skill in singing/approval of director

This class develops an understanding of the nature, structure, and meaning of music through the rehearsal and performance of choral literature and provides for increased skill in ensemble singing.

DRAMA

Year Course- grade 6, 7, 8

This course is designed to study the techniques of theater. Including voice techniques, improv, characterization, body movements, and back stage skills.

Annual Music Events:

  • Knott's Berry Farm performance in May
  • Selected students perform with Orange Unified School District Honor Band and Orchestra
  • Performances for community Tot Lot
  • Holiday and Spring concerts
  • Performing with Orange High School Band during home football games
  • Caroling at Main Place Mall during winter holidays
