Crescent Elementary School Robotics Teams
Win Big at Global Competition

ORANGE, CA — April 23, 2015 — Crescent Elementary School’s Crazy Stackers Robotics Teams A and B did an excellent job at the VEX Worlds 2015 competition in Kentucky this past weekend.

Competing against more than 80 elementary school teams from 29 nations, Team A won the VEX IQ Challenge Elementary School Teamwork Challenge, becoming world champions for the second year in a row. This year they won in alliance with Hongkou NO.4 PS A, a team from Shanghai, China. Team A also placed first in Programming and second in Individual Skills.

Team B received the highest honor at VEX Worlds - the Excellence Award. This accolade is given to one team in each of the five program divisions that exemplifies overall excellence in building a well-rounded VEX robotics program, from their STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) Project to high scores in programming and skills.  They also placed third in the Teamwork Challenge.

It was first announced in March that Crescent’s teams qualified to compete in the 2015 VEX IQ Challenge World Championship based on their performance at the Southern California VEX IQ State Championship last month.

VEX Worlds is a gathering of top robotics teams from around the world presented by the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation and the Northrop Grumman Foundation. The event provides students with open-ended robotics and research project challenges that enhance their STEM skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.
