Villa Park High School Senior to be Featured at
Chapman University S.T.E.A.M. Exhibit

Orange, CA – January 19, 2017 - Orange Unified School District is proud to announce that Elizabeth “Lizzie” Salmond of Villa Park High School will be one of 11 students from across Orange County featured in the Second Annual Chapman-Orange County Science and Engineering Fair (OCSEF) Youth Innovation Exhibit at Chapman University.

Salmond’s began her project, Regeneration of Hydra Heads in Relation with Symbiotic Algae, as a freshman in Paul Hunt’s Honors Biology class and completed it while in Gwen Corbett’s AP Chemistry Class as a junior. She went on to win the Sweepstakes Award at Villa Park High School and first place at the Orange County Science and Engineering Fair last year. She also received the prestigious Youth Innovation Award given by Chapman University's Schmid College of Science and Technology in recognition of ingenuity and dedication demonstrated at the 2016 Orange County Science and Engineering Fair, leading to her selection as part of this year’s exhibit.

Award recipients will be recognized at the unveiling of the 2016-17 Chapman-OCSEF Youth Innovation Exhibit on January 12 at 6:00 PM in Chapman University’s Irvine Lecture Hall.
